Product Review: Eli's Earth Bars

Don't you just love chocolate?

I know I do. I crave it on a daily basis. In fact, I love chocolate so much that I could probably eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I'm serious.

You know what candy bar I miss the most from my non-vegan days? Mounds Bars. Those wonderful, dark chocolate and coconutty bars. They were the best. However, I know a lot of vegan probably miss the more popular candy bars, like Snickers, Mr. Goodbars, and Milky Ways. Or even just good old milk chocolate! Finding vegan milk chocolate isn't the easiest thing, that's for sure.

When Sjaak's agreed to send me some of their Eli's Earth Bars to review, I was really excited! Eli's Earth Bars are their new line of all organic and fair trade candy bars. Also, 5% of every sale goes to a non-profit organization that benefits children. Even better! They sent me a box with an assortment of their three different candy bars: the Celebrate Bar, the Treasure Bar, and the Dream Big Bar.

First I tried their Dream Big Bar.

This bar featured peanuts, peanut butter, and caramel enrobed in a layer of vegan rice milk chocolate. It was good and had a delicious peanut butter flavor, but the caramel was VERY chewy. I would recommend cutting this candy bar with a knife before you eat it. Other than the chewy caramel, it was delicious. It was very nutty and a bit heavy. It reminded me of Rollos...or quite possibly the child of Rollos and Mr. Goodbar.

Next I tried the Treasure Bar.

This was my favorite of the three bars, surprisingly. The bar features a layer of crunchy peanut butter mousse with caramel and rice milk chocolate. The caramel in this bar was very soft, and the mousse was light and fluffy and delicious. Very creamy. This bar was so good that it was gone in a matter of seconds. Speaking of seconds... I want another one!

Finally, I tried the Celebrate Bar.

I expected this bar to be my favorite, because of my love for Mounds Bars, and I was surprised when it wasn't. That being said, this bar is still very good. It features a chewy caramel speckled with coconut flakes, topped with almonds, and covered in rice milk chocolate. It is sort of like an Almond Joy, but the coconut is mixed into the caramel instead of being its own layer. I would also recommend cutting this bar with a knife before you eat it. The coconut gave this candy bar a nice toasted flavor and will be perfect for any lover of coconut.

Overall, the rice milk chocolate tastes like real, dairy laden milk chocolate. It's creamy, smooth, and delicious. Plus, the company donates to children non-profit organizations... and I love a company that helps those in need.

  1. Mounds is actually one of my old favorites too, although I was never real big on candy bars anyway. I wouldn't turn one of these down, of course. :) I've always been more of a dark chocolate fan, than milk chocolate though.

  3. Thank you for the wonderful review, I have seen these in a couple stores in houston but wasn't sure if I would like them or not. I would have to say my favorite candy bar that I miss is Twix which would be the peanut butter one to be exact.
